Share Your Soles is a non-profit organization 501(c) (3) whose mission is to provide new and gently worn shoes to people living in extreme poverty worldwide.
A letter received from Share Your Soles date April 28, 2009 states this:
"You have changed the world by your support of Share Your Soles. We are deeply grateful for that support....
Know that for every pair of shoes you collect, another person's life is literally transformed. Shoes prevent disease. Shoes allow attendance at work or school and even may break the cycle of poverty. Equally important, shoes provide a measure of dignity to hundreds of thousands of people who've received them."
Share Your Soles headquarters is located in Chicago, Illinois and they have very few drop-off centers. However, you are welcome to donate shoes, as I have, to their headquarters located at:

The cost of shipping the shoes is considered a donation and each pair of shoes sent is valued as a $2.00 donation. For example, six pairs of shoes equals a $12.00 donation with a $25.00 shipping cost, the total donation is $37.00. So any shoe that hasn't been worn because well-I-don't-really-like-them, my-aunt-brought-these-ugly-shoes-I'm-not-wearing-them, I-don't-have-anything-that-goes-with-these-shoes, or my-kid-outgrew-the-shoes-I-brought-him/her-last-week, can go for a worthy cause.
